New Delhi, October 31, 2023 :  Vallabhbhai Patel Chest Institute, a unique postgraduate medical institute known for its research on respiratory diseases and dedicated to research, teaching, and patient care in the field of chest diseases organises its 7th DR. V.K. VIJAYAN ORATION programme on the topic “COPD: The Emerging Epidemic and Our Research Journey.”

COPD has emerged as an emerging epidemic today and the people were made aware about the COPD epidemic & the research done on it.

Giving more information about this, Professor Anant Mohan, Head Department of Pulmonary Critical Care & Sleep Pulmocon Medicine AIIMS, Delhi, while giving this information, said that “Firstly, awareness and secondly it is very important for the patient to stay away from pollution and you should keep in touch with your doctor from time to time, otherwise this disease can prove fatal.”

Dr. Rajkumar, Director, Vallabhbhai Patel Chest Institute, has done many major researches in this regard, said that “Burning plastic or garbage releases black carbon (soot) that contributes to climate change and air pollution. It promotes respiratory diseases like COPD, asthma, and emphysema.”
