World Brain Tumour Day on 8th June

Hyderabad, June 11, 2018: World Brain Tumour Day annually is celebrated on 8th June. Celebrating the day helps generally raising awareness and educating masses about the brain tumour, which can be cancerous or also benign and this is not a very common disease.

Taking opportunity on the World Brain Tumour Day, Gleneagles Global Hospitals applauses all the brain tumour survivors and supports the people suffering with brain cancer.

With an increasing trend of 2% malignancies in the occurrence of central nervous system (CNS),  tumours in India ranges from 5 to 12 per 100,000 populations. Research shows that globally malignant brain tumour is most common type of cancer among children.

Tumour, also known as a neoplasm, is an abnormal mass of tissue which may be solid or fluid-filled. A brain tumour occurs when the unnecessary growth of cells produce within any part of brain. This is a condition that occurs when the cells in the brain multiply in an abnormal way or a way that cannot be controlled. The tumour can be malignant meaning it is cancerous or it can be non-cancerous (benign).The tumours are graded from grade 1 to 4 and this depends with their location, how fast the cells are multiplying and the spread to adjacent areas/organs.

Living with tumour presents many new challenges, which may affect in leading a normal life. They undergo stress and will be mentally disturbed. But, for a better treatment isone should stay strong mentally. Relax, Rest and Restore, following the three “R’s” can help you navigate through challenges and strengthen your body, mind and spirit. Most importantly, focus on passion and do what you love. There is no cure than happiness. Silence combined with stillness is powerful for healing with offering new perceptions. Try to keep yourself proactive and engaged in actions. Don’t feel low and be committed with confidence to activate and advance healing focus. The exact cause of brain cancers is unknown although most allied causes of brain cancer are genetic factors, radiation, HIV infection, smoking and various environmental toxins. Guide yourself to make wise choices and make self-care strategies into comfort.
