Brings joy to the terminally ill this Lohri with rides and cultural programmes
New Delhi, January 16, 2016: Empathy and compassion know no limits. Worlds of Wonder, North India’s largest amusement park, recently underlined this by collaborating with Cancer Patients Aid Association (CPAA) Delhi. The Noida-based property made Lohri celebrations a bit more special for cancer patients on January 12 by offering free rides, cultural programmes, goodies and welcome gifts under the initiative.
Operating on a philosophy of ‘Total Management of Cancer’, CPAA Delhi has been working for the past 36 years in all areas of cancer management including awareness and early detection treatment support for chemotherapy drugs in North and North-East India. CPAA Delhi currently works through All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) to reach out to poor & needy patients, and offers auxiliary support such as providing monthly ration and shuttle service etc. to cancer patients and their families.
Speaking on the initiative, Mr Vincent Pijnenberg, IRPPL, commented, “There are times when those of us so blessed must share the gifts that we have received with those who are not as fortunate. Launched in partnership with CPAA Delhi, our ‘Celebrate Lohri with Cancer Patients’ initiative was meant to be our contribution towards the society’s less privileged, and our way of making them feel special. With this initiative, we have in one day given them happy memories that they can cherish forever.”
The event took place at the Worlds of Wonder complex and saw cancer patients across age groups. A welcome treat with chocolate gifts was followed by a cultural programme for kids’ entertainment and free rides for the patients. Worlds of Wonder provided food and drinks for the children, who also received return gifts as a part of the initiative.
