New Delhi, June 01, 2019: Having a set of healthy teeth will not only boost your self-confidence but also give you the right pronunciation of words. Teeth allow us to talk, smile, eat and give our face its shape, so therefore it is the most prized jewel of our face.

Since childhood, our mothers have always told us to have milk to have healthy and strong teeth. Is milk actually good for your teeth? Yes! Drinking milk helps to make our teeth stronger and is thought to protect tooth enamel by providing calcium and phosphorus needed to remineralize tooth structure. It also keeps your jaw bones strong and healthy. It is also important to know that milk along with other dairy products contributes to tooth and bone health throughout our life.

Taking the impact of milk and its delicious and nutritious products, in 2001, the Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations (FAO) selected June 1st as World Milk Day. The Day provides an opportunity to focus attention on milk and raise awareness of dairy’s part in healthy diets, responsible food production, and supporting livelihoods and communities.

Though many food items contain calcium, National Institute of Health suggests milk and dairy products to be the best because they are absorbed easily by your body. Even the American Dental Association (ADA) proposes the order which suggests that if you eat sugary foods then also milk products can make a difference to your dental health. This is because drinking milk after eating sugary foods can lower harmful acidic levels in your mouth. So, don’t have milk with your chocolate chip cookies – wash them down with milk afterward.
