BNH HCG Cancer Centre on World Cancer Day Screens Animated Movie ‘Mahabharath’ for Pediatric Cancer Survivors

BNH HCG Cancer Centre, a unit of HCG – The Specialist in Cancer Care, in association with Nargish Dutt Memorial Charitable Trust (NDMTC) on World Cancer Day, organized events for pediatric cancer survivors with fun filled activities and screened an animated  movie 
“Mahabharath” (Yet to be released) for the kids . More than 100 pediatric cancer survivors participated in the events and watched the movie. During the event, the oncologists educated the families and parents on how to take care of the children and manage the disease. Cancer Aid and Research Foundation & Cankids NGO supported the event.
 
The pediatric cancer incidence in Mumbai, according to population based cancer registry, ICMR Study, per million – 0- 14 years, is Boys – M– 89 per 1000000/ New cases per year and Girls – Mumbai – 59.2 per 1000000/ New cases per year.
 
Dr. Swetha Bansal, Consultant, Pediatric Oncologist, BNH HCG Cancer Centre, said, “The causes of cancer in children are unknown. There are many theories regarding what possibly causes cancer and research is ongoing in this field. Cancer is not infectious and it does not spread from one person to another. Children tolerate treatment better than adults in general and their cure rates are also much better. Approximately 7 out of 10 children can be cured from cancer, if diagnosed early and Leukemia is the commonest cancer in children followed by lymphomas & brain tumor.”
