New Delhi, November 2014 – Drug alert has notice has been issued by MHRA for Zovirax Eye Ointment (aciclovir 3%) which is being manufactured by GlaxoSmithline. The Zovirax Eye Ointment is used to treat eye infections caused by herpes simplex virus. GlaxoSmithKline has recalled two batches of the ointment as a precautionary measure.
The batches with numbers 3L942 and 3M941 have been recalled. The MHRA advised that Remaining stocks should be quarantined and returned to the original supplier for credit as no alternative batches of the ointment are currently available and shortages are being reported. IGMPI
