Pune, November 24, 2015: The second Global Sanitation Summit & Awards ‘Sanitation for All  – Toilet First’ is going to be held at Yashada, Baner Road, here in Pune on Friday, 27 November 2015.

Forum to encourage the corporates and the NGOs for their active participation to make the state “Open Defecation Free” (ODF). Senior officials Govt, Pune Municipal Corporation will join the summit and hold forthright discussions on making Maharashtra an open defecation free state and turning Pune into a model city for basic sanitation with toilet infrastructure and facilities. A day-long global forum will delve into the issue at length from 9.30 AM throughout till 6 in the evening.

The forum will recognise and honour individuals, organizations and innovators for their significant ongoing contributions in sanitation.More than 250 corporate leaders, corporate social responsibility (CSR) professionals, NGO Leaders, toilet and sanitation technology providers, researchers, policy makers, thinkers and social reformers are joining the summit for noble mission.

The forum is a joint initiative of IndiaCSR group and PM Shah Foundation-Pune, aiming for an active involvement in Swachh Maharashtra Mission to accelerate and create mega level platform to discuss various issues related to toilet and sanitation, health, education, women empowerment and behavioral change for wider social good. The forum is praised by various many likeminded organizations, business and social leaders who remain passionate to the ‘sanitation for all – toilet
first’ movement in the country.

SWACHH MAHARASHTRA MISSION

The summit is aligned to ‘Swachh Maharashtra Mission’ (Clean Maharashtra Initiative) of our visionary Chief Minister Shri Devedra Fadnavish, aligning with Swachh Bharat Mission to achieve Nation Sanitation Goals by 2019 announced by Prime Minister Shri Narenda Modi.The Maharashtra government has set a target to achieve a complete open defecation-free status by 2018. The construction of toilets is a major focal area for the mission’, which aims to make India “open defecation free country” by 2019. It aims at constructing 12 crore toilets in country by October 2019 at a projected cost of Rs 1.96 lakh crore. Govt. has constructed around 80 lakh countryside toilets across India under ambitious Swachh Bharat mission.
